Dog found a box turtle?

my dog had a box turtle in his mouth that he had found in the woods. I want to keep him and was wondering if i could keep him in a dog kennel outside. it has a shade covering and is 6ft by 4ft. what do i need to take care of him. how do i give him water to drink. can he stay in a dog house thats in the kennel. how do i know if he has salmonella. i think he is full grown he is about 6 inches.
