My boyfriend ate spinach and now hes really sick?

We had received some boxed spinach from the food bank. My boyfriend took some to his house and ate it tonight and hes been puking for about 2 hours now. Whats going on? How do i find out if there was a spinach recall? Could it be salmonella or E Coli??
